Tech tools can make a world of difference in helping students with dyslexia succeed in the classroom. These range from assessment tools such as Dyslexia Quest Screener, intervention apps like OG Card Deck, classroom apps like Apple Spell Better and assistive technologies like the LiveScribe Smart Pen.
Dyslexia is a learning disability that is neurobiological in origin – students with dyslexia do not use the same part of the brain when reading as non-dyslexics. As a result, they have difficulty decoding words, comprehending what they read and spelling words correctly. In this 90-minute webinar, Dr. Amy Thompson will share specific technology tools that can be used to assess and assist dyslexic students in grades K - 12 to ensure they are getting the most out of their education.
Join Dr. Thompson as she explores assessment apps to help evaluate phonemic awareness, visual memory, processing speed, working memory and other skills to better understand a student’s reading ability and areas of weakness. She will do a deep dive into intervention apps to use in the classroom, one-to-one, during drill work or in centers. She will also delve into reinforcement apps to help these students practice their newfound skills and assistive technology designed specifically to help students with dyslexia succeed academically and in life.
